Source Localization in Reverberant Environments : Part II - Statistical Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
The main di culty in building robust practical systems for acoustical source localization using microphone arrays, is the e ects of room-reverberation. In this paper, a statistical analysis is presented of the in uence of room reverberation on source localization techniques. Using a statistical reverberation model presented in a companion paper, the Cram erRao lower bound for time-deley estimation and maximum likelihood estimators are derived. The probability of a large error is investigated, and also the performance of common time-delay estimation techniques is analyzed. An interesting outcome of the analysis is that the so-called PHAT time-delay estimator is shown to be optimal among a class of cross-correlation based time-delay estimators.

متن کاملAcoustic source localization for design of tangible acoustic interfaces
Acoustic source localization is important to the design and implementation of intelligent environments such as computer-human interaction systems. Different methods for multiple source localization are discussed and compared in this paper. The mathematical model of the method based on SRP-PHAT is presented for multiple sources localization under reverberant conditions. The PHAT are applied to s...
متن کاملReverberation-robust acoustic indoor localization
We propose an effective approach to acoustic indoor localization that works in reverberant environments. The proposed localization system has been implemented to operate in an inaudible frequency range for practical applications. In order to achieve high performance, we propose an effective acoustic source data structure with a synchronization algorithm. To evaluate the proposed system, series ...
متن کاملSource localization in reverberant environments: modeling and statistical analysis
Room reverberation is typically the main obstacle for designing robust microphone-based source localization systems. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the achievable performance of acoustical source localization methods when room reverberation is present. To facilitate the analysis, we apply well known results from room acoustics to develop a simple but useful statistical model for the roo...
متن کاملAdaptive beamforming and soft missing data decoding for robust speech recognition in reverberant environments
This paper presents a novel approach to combine microphone array processing and robust speech recognition for reverberant multi-speaker environments. Spatial cues are extracted from a microphone array and automatically clustered to estimate localization masks in the time-frequency domain. The localization masks are then used to blindly design adaptive filters in order to enhance the source sign...
